MENU Motcombe Gardens Bowls Club

If you are thinking of taking up bowls or you are a bowler who has moved to Eastbourne and are looking for a new club, we invite you to come along to Motcombe Gardens Bowls Club to see what we have to offer. From the moment you walk into the clubhouse you will be received as a friend. All full members have clubhouse keys and may roll-up at any time unless a match is scheduled.

Members also get an equal opportunity to play in matches – about 65 are arranged each year - as well as helping with teas, performing green steward’s duties and generally joining in the life of the club. We may only be a “four rink” club but we have one of the best greens in the town, expertly tended by a specialist company - Andy Butler Sports Ground Maintenance - click on the name to go to their web site.

The picturesque setting of the club with its beautiful flower-beds and flint walls provides a wonderful arena in which to play bowls, or just to sit and watch. Teas and coffees are always available to club members and their guests. We have a full drinks licence and offer a good selection of beers, lagers, wine and soft drinks at “club” prices. The clubhouse can be rented by club members for family parties or other events. As you would expect, we run a full range of internal club competitions and our finals weekend is always very well supported.

There is also a full programme of town and county competitions in which our club members have had notable successes over the years. We enjoy our social activities, especially the club Prize Presentation Luncheon at a local hotel where winners receive their trophies and a good time is had by all. We also organise special events and socials at the club such as Fun Days, BBQs, Spoon Drives, Quizzes and Whist Drives.

During the close season we hold a Games Afternoon every Tuesday at the clubhouse enabling members to have fun and to continue to meet socially. We also like to go on tour and in recent times we have been to Cliftonville in Kent, Bournemouth in Dorset, and to the Isle of Wight (twice) where we always enjoy a very warm welcome from the teams we play and have a most enjoyable holiday as well.

We trust you have found this short introduction to our club of interest. If you would like to join us please click here to download the New Membership Application Form from the Documents Page or, if you require more information, please contact us by clicking here
